The centre-forward position has been a problem for Everton in recent seasons.

The Toffees have failed to source a consistent and reliable replacement for Richarlison after his £60million move to Tottenham.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a great servant to the club and is lethal on his day, but a horrendous injury record has plagued his career.

Beto struggled to justify the £25million spent on him last summer, although the Portuguese forward will hope for a better second season on Merseyside.

Neal Maupay never looked comfortable in blue and with three goals in 31 games, the less said about Salomon Rondon the better.

But according to reports in Italy, Everton now have another striker on their radar – one with previous Premier League experience.

Everton target was at Goodison Park this week

According to Italian outlet CorriereDelloSport, Everton have shown an interest in Roma forward Tammy Abraham.

The Serie A giants played a pre-season friendly at Goodison Park on Saturday that ended in a 1-1 draw.

Abraham was on the bench for the visitors with Artem Dovbyk preferred by manager Daniele De Rossi.

After the match, Abraham was asked about the transfer links and said: “The rumours, obviously, are nice, it means you are doing well, but I am here with Roma and I am available to do my best.”

Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi also travelled with the squad to Liverpool, but the report adds that there have been no talks between the parties so far.

Bournemouth also have an interest in the 26-year-old striker, who Rio Ferdinand once praised for a “Drogba-esque” performance during his days at Chelsea.

HITC understands that Brentford, Newcastle and West Ham have also shown interest in Abraham over the summer window.
