Image for Opinion: Loan Forward a More Likely SigningWith the bulk of the business now ‘done’ according to the senior  West Ham United Source last night, ( see last night’s story ) unless this is another mammoth red herring to throw us all off the scent, it is looking likely that any additional recruits will come from the loan market if the club is able to pare down the existing salary bill.

The frank admission that West Ham had overspent was always going to make headlines but Irons fans need not be too concerned about the bigger picture and PSR.Image for Opinion: Loan Forward a More Likely Signing

West Ham is run by a shrewd management board and the points deductions and other penalties possible for transgressors will be at the front of their minds now: Player departures will surely lead the agenda of the last two weeks of the transfer window but from comments gleaned I really wouldn’t be surprised to see us pick up a loan signing if as a club we succeed in offloading some of our more expensive fringe players.

Those likely to be considered for loan or sale will likely be Ings, Mavropanos, Aguerd, Soucek, Ward-Prowse, Cornet. Those represent a big chunk of cash when salaries are considered: Even ‘just’ Max Cornet’s ten million pounds due over the three years’ remaining on his contract could be a massive club saving if a loan to buy or sale could be arranged, even if part subsidised by the club.

In what could be a really exciting ‘deadline day’ it is quite likely that some very attractive opportunities will exist in the loan market: Many clubs have been unsuccessful in selling players to date and action will hot up in the market between now and 31st.

The Likes of Ivan Toney and Armando Broja are at this stage in the window still unsold with suitors few and far between: What price a season long loan? Even Aston Villa have been quoted as being prepared to offload their want-away Jhon Duran on loan.Image for Opinion: Loan Forward a More Likely Signing

Once the forthcoming fixture between the Villa and the Irons has passed, that option becomes more possible should Duran have burned all his bridges with the Villla management with his instagram capers.

A last minute deal could still be on the cards!
