Leicester City’s season is by no means a write-off at this point, however concerns over the current attacking situation at the club have left them as clear outsiders this season.

The Foxes have optimistically gone for the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Reiss Nelson and Adam Hlozek this summer, however none of the deals managed to come into fruition, with the Hlozek deal notably being snatched from Leicester City in the final stages of talks by Hoffenheim.

To make current transfer matters worse, Leicester City now have to compete with key players Patson Daka and Jamie Vardy on the sidelines for the opening game, with Daka set for a lengthy three month absence.

Options were scarce enough for Steve Cooper leading up to the new season, however with his current options he must make a correct decision as to who will lead the line and not repeat a previous decision that he got incorrect in pre-season.

When Daka initially hobbled off in pre-season against RC Lens, Cooper made the incredibly bizarre decision to look towards bringing on Stephy Mavididi in place of the injured striker, leaving Tom Cannon sat on the bench.

The former Preston North End striker was later utilised in that game, but it showed that Cooper preferred to slot in a winger to play a makeshift number nine role, as opposed to giving Cannon an opportunity to prove himself.

Whilst Mavididi certainly has his qualities out on the wing, he will be completely wasted through the middle, especially considering that Cannon would be omitted as a result.
