It’s been an incredible start for the Frenchman so far this campaign. Le Bris managed to win the Championship Manager of the Month Award for August after four wins from his first four league games.

Despite a 3-2 defeat to Plymouth last weekend, the club sits second in the division going into the Middlesbrough game on Saturday sparking dreams of Premier League football.

However, Le Bris has managed all of these feats without an official number two next to him in the dugout.

Sunderland’s hunt for an assistant manager has continued since the transfer window closed and now the Frenchman has been able to provide an update on the search.

While it is unclear how close Sunderland are to an appointment, Le Bris has been able to confirm that there are currently many possibilities at the moment.

The right man is undoubtedly important for the manager as he seeks to continue his promotion push throughout the season.

He said: “The process is ongoing. It is like with the players, we can find many, many assistants; we need to find the right one to help the staff and the club to go again.”Sunderland Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman talks to Head coach Regis Le Bris (R) during a Pre Season Friendly match between Bradford City and ...

“We have many possibilities because we can improve our staff with experience in the Championship, with experience from set pieces, or experience with individual development,” Le Bris then added. “It is possible to exploit these different areas.”
