The Blues have won nine of their first 11 games back in the second tier and sit second, behind only Leicester City, in the early Championship table.
They already have an eight-point cushion on third-placed Preston North End – whom they beat 4-2 in their last match before this international break – and are 11 points clear of seventh-placed Norwich City.
The blazing start has seen Sky Bet shorten the odds on the Blues winning promotion to the Premier League this season.

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies said: “Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich side went unbeaten during September; winning four and drawing the other to continue their excellent start to the season.
