Enzo Maresca has lauded Anthony Patterson as ‘unbelievable’ after his performance against Leicester last night.
Sunderland did themselves proud, no side – barring a bizarre Hull City win – have been able to cope with Leicester this season.
The likes of Harry Winks and co are Premier League players and just look a level above in this league. Even if Sunderland had Dan Neil making things happen, Leicester just have so much quality.
But despite Leicester being the league’s runaway leaders, Sunderland gave them a game and arguably deserved something from the game.
This could explain why Enzo Maresca was so complimentary of Tony Mowbray‘s players after the game.

Following the game, via Leicestershire Live, Enzo Maresca was full of praise for one Sunderland player.
“The goalkeeper is unbelievable.” Maresca explained, without even naming Patterson. A similar move came back to haunt his former boss Pep Guardiola a few weeks back as he referred to Hee-Chan Hwang as “the Korean guy”.
