Tottenham star Ivan Perisic breaks silence following ACL injury ahead of North London Derby

Tottenham Hotspur wingback Ivan Perisic has taken to social media to break his silence following news that he had injured his ACL

Tottenham Hotspur star Ivan Perisic has broken his silence following news of his anterior cruciate ligament injury. On Wednesday, Spurs confirmed that Perisic had suffered a complex ACL injury in his right knee.

The injury, which was picked up in training, will require surgery and will now see him miss the majority of the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign. It is a major blow to Spurs, who have enjoyed a hugely successful start to the season, winning four of their opening five Premier League fixtures.

Now, the former Inter Milan wingback has taken to social media for the first time since news of the injury broke yesterday, sending out an iconic quote from basketball legend Michael Jordan. Writing on Instagram, the Croatian international said: “‘Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up.

“Figure out how to climb it, go through it or work around it.’ M. Jordan.

“Thank you for all your support. It means the world to me (Boar emoji) (Tornado emoji) (Praying emoji).”

Perisic had played in each of the Lilywhites’ five league fixtures this term, coming off the bench in every match, setting up Richarlison’s dramatic 98th-minute equaliser during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield United. The versatile wideman will now of course miss Sunday’s crucial North London Derby against Arsenal, Ange Postecoglou’s first clash against the Gunners since arriving in N17.
