The latest edition of the PDC World Darts Championships is nearly here. For Gerwyn Price, his quest to lift the Sid Waddell Trophy for the second time in his career, will begin against either Connor Scutt or Krzysztof Kciuk.
Heading into the tournament, it’s not Price who holds the status of favourite though. That honour falls to Luke Humphries. “I don’t think there’ll be any extra pressure on Luke,” Price tells Oche180. “His game is in a great place and there’s no better feeling than that, especially rolling off three majors which is great. Fair play to him he’ll be full confidence.”

Unlike Humphries, Price has found success in TV majors somewhat harder to come by recently. A losing finalist at the Premier League and the World Grand Prix, the Welshman nevertheless retains faith in his own abilities ahead of the biggest tournament of the year.
“On any given day, any one of us can win the tournament. When it comes to the crunch, the top boys find their best stuff when it really matters. In this World Championship, I think some of the boys that haven’t been at their best this year will find their form.”
“If you didn’t win a game all year then went to Ally Pally and lifted it then it’s a successful year. Big ranking points, big prize money, it doesn’t matter what’s happened so far this year, it all comes down to this tournament,” Price continues. “I know my game is in a good place. I’m playing some great darts, I’m confident in my game and I know if I play my A-game then there’s no reason why I can’t go on and win the trophy.”
