Fichajes claim that Tottenham Hotspur have now joined the queue of clubs keeping tabs on Santos wonderkid Marcos Leonardo.

Leanardo broke into Santos’ first team back in 2020 when he was just 16 years of age and the striker has started to fulfil his potential over the last couple of years.

The centre-forward has found the back of the net 17 times in 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt), and several European clubs are thought to be keeping an eye on his development.

Spurs think Leonardo could be one for the future

Fichajes state that the youngster continues to be a ‘hot topic’ in European football, with Spurs now being the latest club to join the race for his signature

It is explained that Tottenham see Leanardo as an ‘attractive option’ as they believe that he has the talent to ‘flourish’ at the highest level in the future.

The report adds that the North London club view the 20-year-old’s signing as a ‘real possibility’ in the upcoming transfer windows.

It is alleged that Santos are aware of the interest in Leandro’s services and would be willing to cash in on him, with the Brazilian side thought to value the youngster at around €17m (£14.7m).

Tottenham showed with their acquisition of Alejo Veliz in January that they are willing to take punts on the best-emerging talent in South America. So, it is quite possible that scouts from the North London club are keeping a close eye on Leonardo as well.
