Everton star Ben Godfrey looked to be en route to Serie A this month, but his move has fallen through thanks in part to David Beckham.
Godfrey has been a perennial figure in Sean Dyche’s resurgent Toffees, and he has been allowed to leave this winter. The Englishman had been looking set to move to Atalanta, after Carlo Ancelotti gave a glowing review to Gian Piero Gasperini.
However, despite opening talks over the fee and personal terms, talks have now ended after Italy abolished their Crescita Decree law. Crescita Decree allowed high income earners from foreign countries to earn a 50% tax discount.
