For the ninth time in his last 11 seasons, Jamie Vardy has struck double figures in a Leicester City shirt – but the Foxes legend has no plans or intentions to wind down despite his age and contract status. Vardy, 37, plundered a brace as part of City’s hammering of Stoke City on Saturday and that took him to ten goals for the season in all competitions.

Vardy’s next appearance, expected to come at Watford this weekend, will be his 450th in a Leicester shirt since arriving for £1m from Fleetwood Town in 2012. In that time, the forward has scored 180 goals and has lifted three pieces of silverware, as well as competing in the Champions League and representing England at major tournaments.

Having missed the entirety of December and the festive schedule because of a knee injury which kept him sidelined over that period, Vardy has now scored five goals in his last five outings either side of that absence and, although his role in the squad has markedly changed after the drop down to the Championship and ideas implemented by Enzo Maresca, he still possesses the hunger to continue and is eager to ensure he is ready for the run-in. Whatever happens this summer, Vardy is keen to continue.
