Kieran McKenna has emerged as a shock contender to replace Gareth Southgate as England manager, according to reports.

The Three Lions are on the hunt for a new first team manager in eight years after the resignation of Gareth Southgate, on the back of their Euro 2024 final defeat by Spain.

Names such as Graham PotterEddie Howe and Lee Carsley have all been in the discussions as to who should succeed Southgate – but now McKenna joins that list.

According to The Sun, the Ipswich boss has become one of the FA’s candidates after securing back-to-back promotions with the Tractor Boys.

They also claim that FA technical director John McDermott is considered to be ‘a huge fan’ of McKenna, having worked together when the latter was a Tottenham youth coach.
