Former Leeds United winger Jack ClarkeLeeds United are aware of Jack Clarke as they search for a new winger and he is “one to watch” ahead of the transfer deadline, according to Mike McGrath.

The Telegraph journalist reported via X on Saturday (17 August) that the Sunderland attacker has had Premier League interest already this summer as his future at the Stadium of Light remains unclear.

Clarke had broken through the academy ranks at Elland Road and spent some time on loan with the Whites after he made the permanent move to Tottenham in 2019 for an initial £10million fee [BBC Sport, 2 July 2019].

Daniel Farke’s side are in the market for new wingers after Crysencio Summerville completed his move to West Ham United, while Georginio Rutter is set to be confirmed as a Brighton player [Florian Plettenberg, 17 August].

Will Jack Clarke exit Sunderland amid Leeds United transfer rumours?

Every Leeds United supporter will be in agreement that a new winger is a necessity between now and the end of August and there are few more attractive options around than Clarke at this moment in time.

The 23-year-old has been one of the division’s most exciting attackers over the last few seasons and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that his form for the Black Cats last term has attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

In 40 league appearances last term, the winger scored 15 goals and laid on four assists in a Sunderland team that was struggling for consistency as they repeatedly chopped and changed managers.

Replacing Summerville isn’t going to be easy and it certainly won’t be cheap, but Farke’s side have money to spend. If Clarke is the man that Leeds want, they simply have to pay the fee to bring him to Elland Road.Former Leeds United winger Jack Clarke

Ultimately, any fee paid for the 23-year-old will seem irrelevant if his goals fire the Whites back into the Premier League.
