Luton Town are set to kick off the highly anticipated 24/25 Championship season under the lights of Kenilworth Road this Monday night, facing none other than Burnley. This matchup carries a special significance for both clubs, as the last time we met in the Championship, we both earned promotion—Burnley securing the title as league champions.

To get a deeper understanding of what we can expect from Burnley, I had the pleasure of speaking with Joe Redmond from TurfCast, who graciously shared his insights on the upcoming clash. Here’s what he had to say.

Q: What are your expectations for this game and what is your score prediction?

A: Now, I’ll be honest, I have recently spoken to some Luton fans who have made me aware of your current injury crisis. Before that, I was predicting a 1-1 and with it being the first game of the season and I think Luton is probably going to be one of the toughest away games, one of the toughest games we have this season. I still would probably take a 1-1, but I’m not going to predict a 1-1 because I’ve left these conversations feeling a little bit more confident that Burnley can get something out of this because your issues are at the back, and I think we can hurt you with our firepower but you’ve got some good forwards as well. So I think both teams will score, but I think we’ll just come out on top, 2-1 Burnley, 3-1, something like that but like I said, that’s just because of your injuries. Although I did see something earlier today, that injury list has got a little bit better for you guys now so we’ll see what happens over the next coming days regarding that one. But thanks to your injuries, I’ve started feeling a little bit more confident about the game.
